Teddy Bear Picnic
Are you looking for a fun picnic idea for your little ones?
Spend the day with their favourite stuffed friend!
Teddy bear picnics can be as simple as just taking your favourite Teddy along to the park. Or, if your child doesn't really want to go on a family hike or picnic, taking their favourite stuffed animal along may just do the trick. This is also a great idea for really fun birthday parties!
Here are some tips for making it a 'beary' special day:
- Are you walking or hiking to your picnic destination? Be sure to place Teddy in a backpack with his head sticking out (so that he can see where you're going!) This has the added benefit of keeping your childs hands free for climbing and balance.
- Bring a special picnic blanket or tablecloth to spread on the grass. You could bring one large blanket for everyone or bring two - one for people and one for bears. Checkered cloth is classic, but something with a teddy bear print is even better.
- Have some wildflowers in a sturdy vase as a centrepiece (perhaps with a plastic bee attached).
- Set places for each guest and teddy. Children's tea sets make perfect place settings for bears.
- Bring along some bear-shaped peanut butter and honey (or jelly!) sandwiches. Cut the bread using a bear-shaped cookie cutter, and then smear with PB&J.
- Make bear-shaped cookies or jello jigglers for dessert. Or how about a honey muffin with a mini teddy bear cookie decoration on top?
- Play some Teddy bear picnic games.
- Bring along a story or two about bears to read at the picnic.
