A Jug of Wine, a Loaf of Bread and Thou ...
Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam
Looking for something fun and romantic to do together? Something other than dinner and a movie? Now is the time to reconsider the good old fashioned picnic. Here are some romantic picnic ideas just for you.
First, the basics:
Location, Location, Location! Consider romantic picnic locations such as a waterfront, in your local park, under the stars, or even in your own living room or bedroom.
Bring along a cozy picnic blanket to snuggle on. Spread a few pillows around to lounge on.
You'll also need a sturdy picnic basket or a Picnic Backpack for 2
to carry your romantic treats. I highly recommend looking for a basket or backpack with all the dishes included - they have everything you need for the most romantic picnics!
Playing games together is great way to build on your intimate relationship and get a little silly with each other. More romantic picnic ideas here!
Romantic Picnic Food Ideas
What's a picnic without the food? Bring along items that you both like with a variety of flavours, and be sure that it will travel well. Keep in mind that romantic picnic food should be a light meal - pigging out on a four-course meal is not very romantic!
Sandwiches are a picnic staple. They are easy to make and easy to transport. A romantic idea would be to make your sandwich recipe on a heart-shaped sturdy bread - simply cut the heart shape out of bread before assembling your sandwich.
Strawberries (or other fruit) dipped in chocolate is a classic romantic food - very sensuous to feed each other, and very simple to make. There are many other finger foods that are easy to prepare and fun to pop into each other's mouths. Hummus with pita wedges, crackers and cheese, fruit or vegetable pieces (perhaps with a dip) all make great choices.
As for beverages ... wine is, of course, a great choice. (Please check ahead if heading to your local park, many public parks do not allow alchohol.) Other great choices are non-alcholic wine beverages or sparkling water with a wedge of lime. If you are having a romantic picnic on a cooler day, try a thermos of hot chocolate or hot mulled wine.

Romantic Picnic Ideas
Some simple picnic ideas to consider would be to fly a kite together, a beachfront stroll, or even a bike ride. After that, the sky is the limit for romantic picnic ideas. The most important thing to keep in mind is you and your partner's likes and dislikes.
Grab your picnic basket and go for a walk or hike and enjoy a nature lovers picnic. Simply enjoy each other's company and have fun identifying birds, insects and plants as you walk along.
The Sidewalk Cafe
Surprise the one you love with this romantic picnic idea. Life can be so hectic that it is hard to find time for one another. So why not bring the romantic picnic right to work? It can be set up right in the office, just outside their door, or at a nearby park. All you need: a small portable table, tablecloth, dishes, music, and, of course, the food & drink.
Under the Stars
What could be more romantic than a picnic under the stars? Take along that cozy picnic blanket (and an extra sweater), lie down and look up! A nice bottle of wine and a few hors d'ouvres is all you need. Or perhaps you'll need a warming cup of gourmet hot chocolate or other hot drink.
Romantic Indoor Picnics
Don't let cold or rain stop your romantic picnic plans! Clear out the coffee table and lay out a blanket or tablecloth right on the living room floor for a romantic indoor picnic. Light up the fireplace, or a few candles. Turn on some of your favourite music, or perhaps some nature sounds to complete the scene.
