Nature Lovers Picnics

Get more in touch with the world around you with nature lovers picnics. Help your kids become closer to nature, showing them all the beauty it has to offer. Getting outdoors is vital to our health ... giving you plenty of sunshine (vitamin D), as well as exercise. - First, you'll need the perfect location - think about a natural park, wild bird sanctuary, nature reserve or nature trail. Perhaps even the zoo or aquarium.
- Pack up the kids and go for a hike (see our Hiking with Kids page). Encourage them to take along a bug catcher or butterfly net.
- Ask your kids to be nature investigators. Take along an illustrated guide to North American Wildlife
and have them identify plants or animals that you encounter along the way. - Feast on the healthy food that you've brought along. Fill your picnic basket with an assortment of vegetables, pita bread and hummus, sandwiches, fruit, and healthy snacks.
- Keep it green! Disposable dishes are a definite no-no. Take along your own reusable dishes whenever possible (see our eco-friendly nature lovers picnics page).
- Don't forget the camera and binoculars!
