Mothers Day Picnic
A Mothers Day picnic is a unique gift for your mom. A picnic provides her with the most precious gift – Time. Give Mom some very special, quality time with the ones she loves and give her a little time off from her job, her housework, her errands ...
(In Canada and the U.S.A., Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May.)
Because a Mother’s Day picnic takes very little planning, it is easy for dad and the kids to make it happen:
Or, if you really don’t have any confidence in the kitchen, go to your nearest deli and pick up a few ready-made sandwiches to go. And, yes, perhaps that box of chocolates. Please, DO NOT let Mom prepare it – you’re giving her some time off, remember?
Your Mother's Day picnic destination can take you an hour or two away from home, to your local favourite park, or even the zoo. You could also plan a wonderful Mother's Day picnic in your own backyard; and if it rains, simply go indoors. (This is also a good idea for Mothers of very young children who could simply be taken in for their afternoon nap.)
Families with younger children could also combine a Mother's Day picnic with a Teddy Bear's picnic. Outdoor games are always fun too. Or, combine your picnic with a family hike.
Mother's Day Picnic Gifts
Picnic Accessories:
Mom could look forward to many more family picnics if you provided her with some fresh picnic accessories. A
picnic cooler,
picnic blanket,
or some colourful plastic dishes are all unique gift ideas - especially when filled with delicious picnic food!
Garden Accessories:
A really fun project for children to make for both mom and grandma is a
creative stepping stone
for her garden. Kids make hand or footprints into plaster, perhaps add a few decorative stones or coloured glass, or simply write "I Love You". It is definitely a gift Mom will cherish!
Flowers:
If you would like to give mom (or even Grandma) some flowers, consider getting her a potted flower from your local greenhouse. That way you are able to bring them along on your picnic without the worry of them wilting, and Mom can take them home again and enjoy them for the rest of the summer in her garden!
Enjoy your day, and say “Thanks, Mom, for all that you do”.
