Canada Day Picnic

There is no better way to celebrate the arrival of summer than this picnic idea - a Canada Day picnic! Originally known as Dominion Day, most Canadian's celebrate July 1st outdoors with family and friends and it usually ends with a bang with a spectacular fireworks show.

Invite friends and neighbours to a local park, your backyard, or organize a block party and have a Canada Day picnic. Make it a red-and-white day. Feature lots of healthy red and white foods and wear only red and white clothing. Get everyone involved and make it a pot-luck picnic (everyone bring a dish of food).

Need some red-and-white food suggestions?

And, as a spectacular, festive dessert, try making a Canada Day Cake (as shown in the photo above).
