Here is a comprehensive list of Calgary picnic sites and their locations, including playgrounds, off-leash dog parks, natural environment parks as well as the outdoor resource center.

The City of Edmonton's web site lists their parks and river valley recreational facilities, including locating parks in your neighbourhood and online picnic site bookings.

Active Edmonton also has a very good list of parks and picnic sites and the facilities available at each location.

Thinking about a picnic or day hike in the beautiful Banff National Park? I highly recommend the book 50 Walks and Hikes in Banff National Park. This excellent reference book, cites the highlights and lengths of each hike, as well as how to get there.
